Gentle Scar Therapy

Supporting your body’s healing — beyond the scar

Every scar tells a story — surgery, injury, birth, or trauma. But even long after the skin has healed, scars can continue to cause restriction, sensitivity, numbness, or pain. Gentle Scar Therapy is a respectful, hands-on approach that helps restore comfort, connection, and movement to the area around a scar.

This therapy works with the nervous system and soft tissues to reduce restrictions and re-integrate the area into the rest of the body. It’s suitable for both new and older scars, and is always adapted to your specific situation and comfort level.

How Gentle Scar Therapy can help.

  • Improve movement and flexibility in the affected area

  • Reduce sensitivity, tightness, or pulling sensations

  • Minimise discomfort or pain

  • Improve appearance and texture of the scar

  • Reconnect you with the area after trauma, surgery or birth

  • Support post-operative recovery, including after C-section, joint replacement, mastectomy, or abdominal surgery

What to expect in a session

Scar therapy is gentle, slow, and deeply respectful of both your body and your story. Your therapist will begin by learning a little about your scar — how and when it occurred, and how it’s currently affecting you. Treatment is always done with full consent and sensitivity.

Techniques may include light touch, myofascial release, skin and fascial gliding, and work with the surrounding tissue — all designed to calm the area, reduce restriction, and help the body re-integrate the scar.

This work is suitable for most scars once the surface has fully healed (usually 8–12 weeks post-injury or surgery).

Who is this for?

Gentle Scar Therapy is ideal if you have a scar that still feels uncomfortable, tight, sensitive, or emotionally confronting — even if it’s years old. It’s especially helpful after surgeries such as C-sections, hysterectomies, joint replacements, or breast surgeries, and for scars that impact movement, digestion, posture, or body awareness.
