Infrared Sauna @ Drysdale Remedial Therapies

Feel refreshed, restored, and re-energised with our private infrared sauna experience.

Why Infrared Sauna?

Unlike traditional saunas, infrared saunas use gentle light waves to warm your body from the inside out. This creates a deep, soothing heat that promotes circulation, muscle recovery, detoxification, and a lasting sense of calm.

Infrared heat is more comfortable and accessible, so that you can enjoy all the benefits without the intensity of extreme heat.

What is an Infrared Sauna?

Our infrared sauna uses gentle, radiant heat to warm your body from the inside out. Unlike traditional steam or dry saunas, it doesn’t rely on extreme temperatures or high humidity. This means you can enjoy all the benefits of deep heat without feeling overwhelmed or uncomfortable. The heat penetrates your muscles and tissues directly, supporting circulation, relaxation, and recovery in a way that feels natural and accessible for all levels.

Benefits of an Infrared Sauna?

Regular infrared sauna sessions can support your body and mind in many ways:

  • Circulation & cardiovascular support – the gentle heat stimulates blood flow and heart function.

  • Muscle recovery & relaxation – penetrate deep into muscles and joints to ease tension.

  • Detoxification & skin health – sweating helps release toxins while promoting healthy skin tone and elasticity.

  • Stress relief & mental clarity – encourages your nervous system to shift into “rest and digest” mode, supporting relaxation and mood.

  • Long-term wellness – over time, regular sessions may support reduced inflammation, improved sleep, and enhanced energy levels.

Your Sauna Journey?

Your sauna journey is divided into three stages to help you ease in safely, enjoying the benefits without increasing risk or discomfort:

Ignite – your first sessions, gently awakening your body to the benefits.

Radiate – building comfort and confidence, with deeper restorative effects.

Shine – fully adapted, enjoying maximum relaxation, recovery, and energy.

Everyone progresses at their own pace. Listen to your body, and enjoy your sauna journey.

What happens during your sauna session?

Every minute in the sauna counts. To help you understand how your body responds and why each stage matters, we’ve created a visual timeline of sauna benefits.

This infographic shows what happens from the moment you step in, through to the sweet spot of 20 minutes, and even beyond for experienced users.

Who is the sauna for?

Infrared sauna can be a supportive therapy for a range of people,

particularly when used alongside remedial treatment. It may benefit those who are:

Managing muscle soreness or stiffness – helps reduce tension and aid recovery after activity.

Living with chronic pain – such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, or ongoing musculoskeletal conditions.

Recovering from injury – supports circulation and promotes tissue healing.

Seeking improved circulation – gentle heat encourages blood flow and oxygen delivery.

Looking to reduce stress and fatigue – promotes relaxation and a shift into rest-and-digest mode.

Who should avoid the sauna?

While an infrared sauna has many benefits, it is not suitable for everyone.

Sauna use should be avoided if you are pregnant, have uncontrolled cardiovascular disease, severe respiratory illness, fever or infection, open wounds, or are taking medications that affect circulation, sweating, or blood pressure regulation.

If you are unsure whether the sauna is right for you, please check with your GP before booking.

FAQs

How hot does the sauna get?

Our infrared sauna is set between 45–60°C, which is gentler than a traditional steam sauna but still provides therapeutic heat.

How long is a session?

Each booking is 45 minutes in the private sauna room, which includes time to warm up, enjoy the sauna, and cool down. You are free to move in and out of the sauna during that time as you feel you need to.

Do I need to bring anything?

We provide towels, filtered water, and herbal teas. There will be cool face washers to help you freshen up at the end of the session. You can bring a book to read, and you can connect your mobile device to the Bluetooth speakers within the sauna to listen to your own choice of music or an audiobook.

What should I wear in the sauna?

Most clients wear light workout clothing, swimwear, or even strip down to appropriate underwear. Towels are also available if you prefer to wrap yourself.

How often should I use the sauna?

Benefits can be felt even after a single session, but for longer-term results, many people enjoy 1–3 sessions per week. Even a fortnightly or monthly sauna can be supportive.

Is the sauna private?

Yes. You’ll have the sauna room all to yourself for the duration of your booking.

Can I combine a sauna with a massage?

Yes! We offer a sauna + massage package. Sauna after massage can reduce soreness from deep tissue work and support recovery.

How should I prepare myself for my sauna session?

Stay hydrated beforehand by drinking 1–2 glasses of water. Avoid heavy meals or alcohol before your appointment.

Do I need to drink during my session?

Yes — sip water as needed. Herbal teas and water are also available afterward to help restore hydration.

What does it feel like?

You’ll feel a gentle, dry heat that penetrates deeply into muscles. Most people report feeling relaxed, refreshed, and calm afterward.

Is it safe for everyone?

Not quite. Saunas are not recommended during pregnancy, or if you have certain heart conditions, uncontrolled high blood pressure, fever, or infection. Always check with your doctor if unsure.

Will I sweat?

Yes, though the amount varies. Sweating is part of the detoxifying and circulatory benefits of the sauna.

Do I shower afterwards?

It’s not essential, but you may wish to rinse off at home after your session. A towel will be provided to freshen up, but we do not have shower facilities at the clinic.

Can I use the sauna after exercise?

Absolutely — many athletes use infrared sauna post-training to speed up recovery and reduce muscle soreness.

Can I use the sauna to relax, not just for muscle soreness or recovery?

Yes, it’s just as beneficial for relaxation, stress relief, and general wellbeing.

Is it suitable if I don't tolerate high temperatures.

Yes. Infrared saunas are gentler and typically feel more comfortable than steam or traditional saunas.

Will I loose weight in the sauna?

You may notice temporary water weight loss from sweating, but the main benefits are improved circulation, detox support, and recovery.

What the difference between Infrared and traditional steam saunas?

Infrared saunas use light to gently heat your body from the inside out, at a lower temperature than traditional steam saunas. This makes them more comfortable while still offering deep therapeutic benefits.
